Focus and Meditation

All meditation involves focus until we enter into the quality-less, thoughtless essence. Detailed instructions for points of focus in meditation and for learning to re-focus the mind are discussed. As Rama says, "the practice of meditation is emptying the mind. When the mind is empty, completely empty, it's perfect meditation. It's really that simple."

Tantric Buddhism

In these diverse talks, Rama draws from classical Tibetan Buddhism and numerous aspects of American culture to create a current version of Tantric Buddhism that is as solidly grounded in ancient practice as it is fully engaged in modern life.

Zen Tapes

"What I term Tantric Zen, I could also refer to as old Zen, the original face of Zen, or new Zen, contemporary Zen practice -- no mind, the mirror of existence. Zen is meditation, the actual experience of life -- directly, immediately, with no buffers." -- Rama

Zazen: Concentration and Meditation

"There are two practices -- concentration and meditation. For the first year or two, you probably will be almost exclusively practicing concentration. You will try meditating, but it won't come until later... When you concentrate, you're focusing on something. When you meditate, you're letting go and dissolving, you're seeking to stop all thought.

"It is very hard to stop your thoughts. Try it. Not to have one thought, image, idea, or associative feeling in the mind is difficult for most people. Rather than just trying to stop your thoughts, which is hard and frustrating, it's easier to concentrate and focus on something. As you focus completely on something, all other thoughts will be forced out of the mind because your attention will be dominated by the object of concentration. This develops your mental power exquisitely." Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz

Karma

“Karma, first of all, is engendered by states of mind. It’s best to think of karma, not so much in terms of physical action, but as waveforms of vibratory energy. Karma is your own energy -- the energy patterns that emanate from your life, from your actions, from your thoughts, feelings and desires…. If you could see the earth from a vibratory point of view and not be distracted by the physical, you would see something like radio waves, billions of them, cascading constantly in very complex patterns all over the earth. These waves are emitted from the thoughts, feelings and actions of each individual life form here. That's what karma is.” Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz

Tantric Buddhism

This is a book of 27 transcripts recorded by Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz from 1989 to 1990. In these diverse talks, Rama draws from classical Tibetan Buddhism and numerous aspects of American culture to create a current version of Tantric Buddhism that is as solidly grounded in ancient practice as it is fully engaged in modern life.

Zen Tapes

In 1986, as Rama - Dr. Frederick P. Lenz prepared for a major public lecture series, he sought to present a path to enlightenment that would be most understandable to the largest group of people. He selected Zen as most relevant to his current and future students and called his teachings "Tantric Zen." Of the 18 transcribed talks contained in this book, he says:

Professional Meditation

A professional in meditation is someone who is able, no matter what the state of their mind or life, to sit down, meditate, stop thought and enter the quiescent state. But realize that no matter how high you go, no matter how deeply you perceive, you are only touching the bare surface of infinity.

The Natural State

In Buddhism we call Enlightenment the natural state. But with billions of human beings on Earth thinking and acting, it is difficult for us to even quiet our mind. We are all incarnate Buddhas and we seek our own innocence. Find out how we can become more aware of our true nature and reside in the natural state.
