Concert/Commemoration of Rama’s Mahasamadhi
Sat, April 9, 2016 @ 6:30 pm
2016 marks the 18th year since Rama's departure. Rama's Mahasamadhi Commemoration will be held on Saturday, April 9th in the evening at the Audubon Society in Greenwich, Connecticut in Kieran Hall. We gather as a tribe to honor Rama and to share the energy that reverberates and resonates when his sangha unites.
In honor of Rama's Mahasamadhi, Bodhi – Joaquin Lievano, (original member of the band Zazen) and Alan Lin (violinist) will perform live the new Zazen-based music they have been working on.
Alan and Bodhi recently played together at the February 9th Rama's Birthday Celebration at Guaymas Restaurant in Tuburon, CA. One attendee wrote about the concert: "They played magnificently together in Tiburon and I got completely off the grid in meditation as did many others. When they played together it was like I recognized shards of Zazen songs but the compositions were so evolved they are different pieces altogether rather than just a live rendering of a recording. Body's art – mixed with Alan's – has moved to a new level and is not to be missed."
The Greenwich Audubon is the same venue where the event took place last year. We felt very at home there. It's like being in the large living room of a Greenwich home, except that there are fine images of birds drawn by John James Audubon all over the walls. Just as the Tibetan thankas would become alive when Rama held empowerments or special events for his students, these detailed drawings of birds seem to fly off the walls when we gather to honor our teacher.
Dinner, dessert, time with friends, an opportunity to share stories of power and light, the ecstatic live concert, silent meditation and more await you. Please bring your friends, students, partners. While this event is taking place on the East Coast, we hope friends of Rama from around the country will join us. You can fly into any of the New York airports. The closest is the Westchester Airport in White Plains (HPN). Kieran Hall at the Audubon Society is situated at the entrance to a 275-acre park and is a taxi drive from several train stations for those coming from Manhattan or New Haven. Directions to Kieran Hall are here.
We will share more details about this special evening soon and hope to see many of you there. To register now and secure your place, please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
