Kundalini is energy. It is the life force. Everyone has kundalini. It’s already there. But it’s a question of waking it up. By practicing meditation, we use tap into our energy – our kundalini – to bring us higher and to access our true essence.
All meditation involves focus until we enter into the quality-less, thoughtless essence. Detailed instructions for points of focus in meditation and for learning to re-focus the mind are discussed. As Rama says, "the practice of meditation is emptying the mind. When the mind is empty, completely empty, it's perfect meditation. It's really that simple."
These talks were recorded in 1985 at specific power places in the United States. Rama chose these locations because they emanated the essence of the topic he wished to discuss.
“Zen is the study of making the mind still. As your mind becomes still, a power enters into you. This power transforms your mind. It escalates your evolution and you begin to cycle through many incarnations in one lifetime. You make tremendous quantum leaps and jumps… you are going to take perhaps a hundred lifetimes, which you would have gone through and experienced and gradually evolved through into higher levels of intelligence, and do that perhaps in one lifetime. “Happy people, enlightened people, successful people, inspired people -- they all share something in common -- they've learned how to manage and increase their energy.
"There are two sides to increasing energy. One is learning how to gain energy; the other is avoiding its loss. My subject today is not so much how you increase it. I'm suggesting that's pretty easy. The problem is losing it.
"The primary place where most people lose energy is in their relationships with others. Wherever dependency is created, energy is lost. In self-discovery, in Zen, you need to become independent and strong. That's the key that unlocks the door ... of enlightenment.” Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz
"In Tantric Zen the thought is -- "It doesn't matter, but it does". It doesn't really matter what you do -- it is your state of mind that matters ... Everything is dependent upon your state of mind. If you're in a very tantric state of mind, then your experiences will be quite different....
"There are all kinds of wonderful stories, of course, about practitioners of tantra who seemingly break all the rules and yet are enlightened. But they don't try to break the rules. In other words, the thought isn't: ”Well good, let's find out everything we're not supposed to do and go do it!” Or the thought isn't: “Oh boy, I can just enjoy absolutely everything and become enlightened!” Neither of these are real case scenarios. Let us just say that life draws us in different directions, sometimes simultaneously -- and when you follow the direction that life draws you in, if you stay in a very powerful state of mind, then you'll see eternity." In intermediate meditation, you're touching light more deeply than in introductory meditation. In advanced meditation, you become light. You transcend self, ego, time, space, dimensionality.
