Turīya ~ Jenna Sundell teaches Practical American Buddhism, a practice consisting of meditation, applied mindfulness, an excellent sense of humor, and respect for all who seek Truth. On this path, form follows function, in the practical sense of using the techniques that work in our modern world. Like all things American, this is melting pot Buddhism. Wisdom and techniques from traditions such as Vajrayana, Zen, Bhakti Yoga, and Mysticism are used based on the needs of individual students.
Turīya studied directly with Rama and began offering public classes in 1994. She co-founded Dharma Center in 1998 to provide classes in San Diego for people who live and work in the world. Dharma Center offers the opportunity for students to sit with a wide variety of teachers who share their unique perspectives and experiences on the Path. Much like Rama’s original community of students, we find a diverse population of students at Dharma Center. Many students gravitate towards one specific teacher, while others enjoy the fusion in their own practice created by sitting with all the teachers.
In addition to teaching at Dharma Center, Turīya offers workshops in cities across the country. She is the author of two books: Worlds of Power, Worlds of Light and Peace with Pain: Your Guide to Life in a Malfunctioning Body.
