The Yoga of Selfless Giving

“Why aren't you happy? Why aren't you satisfied with your life? Deep down inside you know that you're not really happy or satisfied or free. You're entangled in a mass of emotions, you're bombarded by thoughts and ideas that don't make you happy, you live in a world gone mad, where people use technology to find faster and more efficient ways to kill each other, where in every home there's cruelty and unhappiness, where love is just another four-letter word for fulfillment of desire, where beauty is laughed at, purity stained, humility ignored.

“Why aren't you happy? Why aren't all of you happy when there's so much to have and so much to be? The reason is very simple. At the root of all problems we find one causal answer -- self-giving. The reason you're not happy, the reason the world lacks peace, the reason that we cannot find ourselves, is that we lack happiness -- the happiness that comes from self-giving.” Rama – Dr. Frederick Lenz

The Yoga of Mysticism and Power

“There are four principal pathways that lead to self-realization. Mysticism is the hidden way.... "The path of love seeks to unite us with immortality through love of God. The path of selfless giving seeks to unite us with immortality, with nirvana, through action. Love is passive; self-giving is active. Jnana yoga, the path of discrimination, seeks to unite us with eternity through knowledge -- by pushing away all illusions of the self and coming to know who and what we are....

“Mysticism uses power -- the utilization of power to unite us with our eternal self. When we practice mysticism, we deal with two sides of ourselves: that which is seen and that which is unseen. The part of our being that we see is the island of the first attention. The part of ourself that we're not conscious of is the ocean of our second attention.” Rama – Dr. Frederick Lenz

Advanced Meditation

"In advanced meditation we not only pass through other planes of consciousness or awareness but we become them."

Modular Mysticism: Storing Power

"In the practice of mysticism there are four stages. The first stage is gaining power. The second stage is avoiding the loss of power. The third stage is storing power. And the fourth stage is giving power.

"I've talked a great deal about gaining power and losing power. But one subject I haven't dealt with is how to store power. That's what I'd like to talk to you a little bit about….When I say, "store power," what I mean is you are going to take awareness and consciousness and go into another plane of reality with it and leave it there and draw on it. There are many, many ways to do this. Tonight I'd like to allude to a few of them." Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz

Modular Mysticism: Seeing

“Nothing is or is not, unless thinking makes it so. We all know the words. Therefore the only way you can tell what is beyond, what is or is not, is to stop thought. Seeing is the process of stopping all thought.” Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz

"You know, the question comes up all the time. Why does one person see more than another? Why can you sit there and see red auras and blue auras and the person next to you won't, if the auras are in fact there? Well, the reason is very simple. The only reason all of you don't see more than you do is because you're held back by your description (of the world). Because in your description, certain things happen and certain things don't, and your description won't bend." Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz

The Sorcerer's Explanation

"A person is made up of awarenesses. These awarenesses all exist in the unknown -- now we're moving into what don Juan calls "the sorcerer's explanation". It's the explanation of life. All of the awarenesses that have ever been or will ever be, exist, he says, like barges floating in the ocean. It's a nice analogy. They're all just floating out there, the only difference is they're not solid barges, and as they're floating in that ocean out there they can actually pass through each other. So you can have 20 barges and they're floating along, but they're so light and so fluid that they can actually go through each other. They are all the time, but they're not in any fixed order. There is no order, it just is, and that's what reality is. It's just infinite awareness, infinite consciousness." Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz

Neutral Density

"The universe is actually alive. It is intelligence -- an intelligence that far surpasses anything that has yet been seen or dreamed or imagined. And you enter into that intelligence. You are it. You're a reflection of it. But to see it all, to be it, to be that totality -- that's what attracts a few of us to perpetually go forward into it. And it's neither moral nor amoral, good nor bad. It's not an achievement. It's just what you're drawn to. We're drawn back to the sea of eternity ... and along the way there are places you can get stuck." Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz

Unity

"There are two forces at work in the universe -- unity and diversity. Unity is enlightenment. Diversity is illusion or maya, ignorance…. So we could say that, when you step out of enlightenment -- you could say out of grace, if you’re religious -- we step into the world of diversity. We see things as separate…. So then, your journey is to unity, and you need to think more about unity and focus on it. How do you go about perceiving unity? Well, when you stop thought, that’s unity. Thought is diversity. Where else will you find unity? You’ll find it first and foremost in your heart -- in love. Love is the strongest power in the universe. Love is unity." Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz

Magic

“In order to practice magic, you need only one thing -- awareness. We have other selves that are not of this world, of this time, of this cycle. We are ancient beings, evolving forward and backwards simultaneously; we are not structured in time. We are eternal travelers, eternal voyagers -- appearing to be here when in fact we are somewhere else. And when you can contact yourself in that other place, when you can open up a kind of an inter-dimensional phone line between yourself and your various selves, when you become aware of that, that’s when magic begins. You enter another world -- a world of dreams." Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz

Kundalini Yoga

"So my recommendation is -- if you seek to practice kundalini yoga -- to meditate, of course, and you can meditate on the different chakras and feel what that's like. But what will really release the kundalini is something much simpler and more effective, in addition to meditation techniques, breathing techniques, and so on. And that is by creating a stillness in your life. This stillness will come about through deep caring and introspection. It will come about slowly and then quickly. It builds in momentum." Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz

Power

"Mysticism is the study of energy, the study of power. Power itself is simply a word to try to describe attention, awareness. Power is the ability to translate, that is, to shift from one level of attention to another." Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz

"In mysticism, the first course of action is to do away with imprinting -- our own conditioning and the conditioning of others. Then we need to be re-imprinted but in a different way; we need the imprinting of enlightenment, of freedom, and that comes through our association with a higher being. So classically what occurs is one meets a teacher. And that being will teach you how to overcome your old imprinting by changing your way of life and by teaching you the ways of power -- how to store it, collect it, amplify it, how to stop losing it. By bringing enough power into your life, you will gradually erase or actually overcome your imprinting." Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz

Transcendentalism

”Our subject tonight is transcendentalism -- the awareness of eternity in the present.... As I’m sitting talking to you, I’m watching a squirrel. I’m sitting here in the Dodge van and I’m watching this cute little guy hop back and forth, apparently oblivious to our technologically-oriented civilization. He’s out there in his world, a world of trees and nuts and wind and rain and sunshine -- completely unaware of the things that we are aware of, and, of course, we are unaware of the things that he is aware of. So transcendentalism suggests that we are aware of our world …but we are completely oblivious to a world that may be right next to us. Rama - Dr. Frederick Lenz
